How do I get a European licence if I am already the holder of a PPL in a country outside the EU? (Conversion)

  • A licence conversion will usually involve re-sitting some or all of the theory exams and undertaking a prescribed number of flight hours before applying for the Skill Test.
  • The requirements vary from country to country and on the holder’s experience. Generally your licence will not be accepted but you’re flying hours and written exams, excluding law, will be considered valid and can be counted towards the requirements. It is also quite possible that you will have to undergo the medical with an Irish registered Doctor.
