Student Testimonials

"My Dream has always being to become a commercial airline pilot, ever since I began flying at the age of 12. SkyTrace has being helping me to achieve it. The instructor/student relationship encourages a friendly and relaxed atmosphere which helps the student enormously. When the day of my first solo flight arrived I was extremely nervous but the instructors and operations staff ensured me that I would be fine and thankfully the day was successful .This school gets definite thumbs up for anyone wishing to become a pilot, be it private or commercial."

I can't say enough good things about my experience at SkyTrace. My expectations were not only met but exceeded. I appreciate the honesty and integrity the school brings to flight training. Without hesitation I recommend SkyTrace to anyone looking to take their first steps into the world of aviation and realise their dream of becoming a Pilot."

"Since I was 4 or 5 I was always in awe at seeing planes travelling through the skies with the trail of white smoke coming from the back of them. In my younger years whilst studying in DCU I applied a few times with Aer Lingus for their cadet pilot programme. Competition was pretty severe and alas I didn't make the cut on both attempts. I decided to train for my PPL one year ago and SkyTrace looked like the place that seemed most suitable. They have a great training program that gets the student to push themselves to the maximum. I completed my Ground School exams last August and since then I have been getting closer and closer to going solo and then hopefully in the next 3 or 4 months I'll have my PPL. I would recommend SkyTrace to anyone who is thinking about flying as a hobby or a professional career, it definitely is a great place to get started."

During 1968 at the age of 17 I decided to take up flying which was a passion of mine at the time. I enrolled with Iona Flight School which was based at Dublin Airport, and completed six hours.

During this time I discovered that you required a very good leaving cert to have a chance of becoming a commercial pilot. Not being the academic type I gave it up, however, never lost the desire to fly. For the next 39 years, career, marriage, children, etc. were my priority, but still, every time I saw a small plane in the air I would say to myself "some day I'm going to take it up again". Then at the end of 2006 at the age of 55, with encouragement from my wife, I made my way to Weston Airport and walked into SkyTrace just to get some information. I was made feel incredibly welcome and it was clear SkyTrace was genuinely interested in helping me fulfill my dream.

I have now flown solo and am currently doing navigation flights, and hope to be ready to do my PPL exam later this year.

I can honestly say that everyone at SkyTrace, and the instructors in particular are really encouraging and genuinely want to see me achieve my dream of obtaining my PPL. I would like to take this opportunity to thank them all.

For anyone thinking of taking up flying, I can highly recommend that you call out to SkyTrace for a chat, you won't regret it."

My flying adventure began in 2004 with an introductory voucher flight in the Piper Warrior. The voucher was a 57th birthday gift from my wife who decided that if somebody didn't give me a push my lifelong dream of flying an aircraft would never be fulfilled. I now have my PPL and the thrill of taking family and friends on pleasure flights is absolutely fantastic. My grandchildren love to fly with and talk about their 'flying grandad'.

At SkyTrace age is not a barrier. I was treated in exactly the same way as younger students whose goal is to become an airline pilot. The help and encouragement I got culminated in last year being presented with the 'male student of the year' award, having passed the flight skills test in July. From front desk to CFI the people at SkyTrace make everyone feel important. Learning to become a pilot at SkyTrace has been a truly exhilarating experience for me and is something I would highly recommend to anyone who wants to fly an aircraft either for pleasure or commercial purposes."

I always wanted to fly, and in 1978 at the age of 20 I gained my PPL. Having not flown for 28 years, I finally found time to commit to retaining. I visited many Flight Schools, but as soon as I arrived at SkyTrace I knew I had found the right one! Great organisation in the office made booking very simple. I was assigned two excellent instructors, Anthony and David. They instilled confidence, and increased my knowledge and skills with each flight. I found the SkyTrace Ground School 1st Rate. Final preparations with my instructor ensured I passed the IAA written exams and Flight Test on the Piper Warrior. I have made many good friends of all ages during my training, some of whom are working towards being professional pilots, but who all share my enthusiasm for flying. ...... My new PPL has arrived.  Thanks to all at SkyTrace

For as long as I can remember I have always wanted to become a pilot.  I was delighted when  in 2009 my wife surprised me with a voucher flight from SkyTrace.  From the moment I walked into their office, to the time the wheels touched down on that first flight, I knew I wanted to achieve my own Private Pilots Licence and I also knew SkyTrace was the right organisation to help me realise my dreams.

It was of paramount importance to me from the start that I could complete my Private Pilots Licence within the time frame and budget I had planned.  SkyTrace rose to the challenge,   every aspect of my training programme was activity managed to ensure that I received the very most from my time, whether in a plane or in the class room. My goals were as much a priority for them, as they were for me.

I cannot complement enough the Staff, the facilities and the training that SkyTrace offers. This is not to say that the Private Pilots Licence course is easy but it certainly is a credit to all the staff at SkyTrace, that at every hurdle or milestone I encountered along the way, each member of staff willingly offered their support, expertise and assistance. This undoubtedly made every aspect of the course a thoroughly enjoyable experience.

I can only count myself as very lucky for having chosen to complete my Private Pilots Licence with SkyTrace.   I would happily recommend to anyone that has even the slightest interest in learning how to fly that they should take their first flight with SkyTrace and like me, they’ll never look back.
