The first thing you are likely to notice is how quickly you get off the ground, unlike the big commercial jets we do not require a long run to get off the ground. Next is the fact that you will be able to see what’s going on out the front and what the pilot is doing.

Once the instructor has manoeuvred the aircraft to a safe altitude  it’s time for you to try your hand at flying the aircraft. The controls are light and fairly sensitive so do not require a lot of effort to move. Also the faster you move the controls the quicker the aircraft will react, sounds simple but in the air if your not prepared it can be a little surprising. Bear in mind that training aircraft have full dual controls so the instructor can always steer you in the right direction.

The instructor will demonstrate and talk you through some basic manoeuvres and also discuss the various different instruments and controls in the cockpit. Also you will get an idea of the local area and how different everything looks from above. All too soon it will be time to head back to the airfield where the instructor will take over and bring the aircraft in to land.

Hopefully you will have enjoyed the whole experience and perhaps the flying bug will have bitten.
